- Being a Dad: My sons are now 5 & 7 years old. This is the coolest, biggest project of my life. I love being a dad. I am continually trying to become a better husband and father.
➡️Chris Barber’s Resonance is the most helpful thing I have read on this topic. - Cooptimize: I am CJO (Chief Josh Offiicer) at Cooptimize, where we don’t take titles too seriously. Cooptimize is a data consulting cooperative, specializing in data and tools related to Microsoft business applications. Participating in and growing the business as a cooperative has been fun.
➡️Read more about the Cooptimize story and our values here. - Writing: I write a weekly newsletter of reflections on family and work life. I’m not sure how to describe it other than, “stuff I’ve been thinking about recently.” I’ve written a newsletter every week for the last 3 1/2 years, probably the longest intentional habit I’ve maintained in my life.
➡️If you’re into that sort of thing, here’s the Substack link. - Music: I’ve been experimenting with a music project, taking old poems and setting them to music using AI. It’s a way to make classical poetry more accessible to my kids, and it has been interesting to watch the AI music model progressions.
➡️The music project is called Dead Artist Collective. - Jiu Jitsu: I’ve trained jiu jitsu the last 10 years. I currently train at Paragon SLO. I’m not good at it, but I enjoy trying to improve. I help teach my kids’ class 2x per week.
➡️Some things I’ve written about jiu jitsu: Community, The Greatest - Currently Reading:
The Power Broker, One Long River of Song - Currently Watching:
Pachinko, Andor
